Classroom Workshops
Thrill your students with the wonders of science!
Little Sciensteins provides fun, interactive science workshops for K-8. Lessons include exciting demonstrations and are curriculum-correlated. Add further enrichment with the purchase of optional Experiment Kits and we’ll guide your students through fun, hands-on, inquiry-based experiments that we supply!
Virtual and in-person options available for all workshops.

Explore physical and behavioural adaptations that enable owls to hunt and consume prey. Learn about owl food chains and energy transfer in an ecosystem by analyzing the animals that owls eat.
EXPERIMENT KIT: Find out what owls eat! Dissect regurgitated owl pellets to identify prey skeletons.
What’s a physical change of matter vs. a chemical reaction? Did you know most liquids are an acid or base? Why? Find out in this exploration of acids, bases and their chemical reactions!
EXPERIMENT KIT: Investigate whether different liquids are acidic/basic, and discover what happens when they react together.
Learn about static and current electricity. Examine parts of a circuit and discover conductivity, polarity, series and parallel circuits.
EXPERIMENT KIT: Build a simple circuit to test items for their conductivity. Then, build a light-up greeting card circuit.
Our bodies house just as many microbes as human cells! Learn about microbial ecosystems in the human body, and explore how they’re influenced by a variety of biotic/abiotic factors.
EXPERIMENT KIT: Play the game of “Microbe Motel” to model the gut microbial ecosystem and investigate the impacts of human behaviours.
Are your students curious about a career as a scientist? This Q&A workshop explores my journey working as a Microbiologist, and examines how all scientists use the scientific method. Students then test their hand-washing skills (in-person only), or view microbes under the microscope (virtual only).
Seeds come in all shapes and sizes. Why do plants make seeds? What physical properties and functions do all seeds share? Explore the steps of seed germination, and identify basic needs for plant growth.
EXPERIMENT KIT: Compare sprouting of different seeds. Then, make the surprising discovery that sprouts can grow upside down or in the dark!
